Painting

Could I recreate my self by painting a self-portrait? Start from scratch. All over. Should I start from the inside out or just the opposite. How large should the painting be? How do you paint a soul? Oil or watercolor? Camel or horsehair brushes? Blend in more compassion. And more courage. Would I begin to feel differently as the paint seeped into the canvas?
